NJ Boating Safety Course FAQ

How long does the course take?
The course is a total of 8 hours.

What do I need to bring to the course?
Each student must bring a NJ drivers license, birth certificate, passport or some sort of government issued I.D. Also bring a pen, pencil, scrap paper, and a self addressed envelope (4 1/8 X 9 1/2), per person.

Why do I need to take this course?
The advantage of taking this course is that it is mandated in order to operate a boat in the State of NJ. Also, it will give you a vast amount of knowledge in the world of nautical navigation, the water ways, their rules and make boating a safe and pleasurable experience the next time you decide to head out on the water.

What kind of tests do I take during this course?
At the conclusion of the course a written exam will be given, which you must pass in order to receive your certificate.

How much does this course cost?
We have set a 6 person minimum fee of $450.00 in order to qualify for a Private Class. Any additional attendees will be $75.00 per person. If you have less than 6 persons, the class fee is still $450.00.

How long does my boating safety certificate last?
The certificate is good forever, and there is no renewal fee.

Does my certificate work in other states too?
Yes, in any State within the Continental U.S.A.

Where do I study for this course?
No need to study. All the information presented in this course will be substantial enough for you to be confident enough to pass the written test.

Is this course too hard for beginners
Just the opposite. In fact, most of our highest test scores to date are those of 13 year olds.
